WHAT CAN YOU DO

Section 1

WHO FUNDS STEM CELL RESEARCH?

Research at UC Irvine is funded through a visionary public/private partnership that includes the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine and philanthropists such as Sue and Bill Gross and other private donors.

WHY ARE PRIVATE DONATIONS IMPORTANT?

Some of the most promising paths to better, safer drugs and new treatments begin with exploratory research. Federal and state grants require preliminary data and typically take a year or more for approval. Private donations are what fund vital exploratory research and have propelled some of the biggest breakthroughs in the field to date.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?

EDUCATE: By getting the facts about stem cells, we can help debunk popular myths and encourage an informed discussion on the topic.

ADVOCATE: Through organizing events, volunteering, sharing knowledge and ideas, and contacting elected officials and community groups, we can raise awareness by lending our voices to the cause.

GIVE: Every level of financial contribution can make an immediate and lasting impact on breakthrough research happening in the labs every day.
