From the Office of the Dean – Leadership announcement

April 12, 2019

We are extremely pleased to announce that Dr. Daniela Bota has accepted the role of senior associate dean for clinical research and chief scientific officer for our clinical trials enterprise. Dr. Bota will continue to serve as associate professor for Neurology and as medical director for the neuro-oncology program at the School of Medicine. In her new assignment, Dr. Bota will be responsible for overseeing the development of clinical research and the new clinical trials business, guiding the development and implementation of this important initiative. Her proven leadership and passion for research inspires those around her and will be a great asset in achieving our collaborative vision for the future of clinical trials at UCI.

Dr. Bota is extremely thrilled about the opportunity to lead clinical research as we take this effort to the next level. Over the last two years, she has served as an advisory council co-chair for the RISE clinical trials initiative. She has overseen the transformative work performed by cross-functional teams across the campus, and helped to prepare our organization for tremendous success. Dr. Bota’s first order of business is to assemble a new team to lead the clinical trials enterprise as well guide the existing workgroups as they continue to provide insight and expertise as we seek to realize our industry-leading, patient and principal investigator-centric, collaborative vision for clinical trials at UCI.
